We issued Category 1 mainly for  severe weather events. Multiple severe  supercelluar thundestorms and MCS (embedded supercells/bow echo) developement possible during the late afternoon and evening, which may cause destructive winds ( +90-100 km/h gusts), hail (~3-4 cm) and one or two mesocyclonic tornadoes.

Category 1 has been issued because we expect supercell and formation of MCS today in eastern Hungary with the threat of wind gusts above 90 km/h and hail with diameter around 2-3 cm.

We issued Category 2 because there is a chance of significantly severe weather events across the central, SW and S parts of the country. During the morning hours the main thunderstorm type will be the multicellular convection which may cause flash floods locally. In the late afternoon hours a „fast” moving MCS (or circular MCS) with the possibilty of embedded bow echo(s) could develope in the west counties and move to the east. This storm system (or one or two isolated HP supercell) may produce strong to damaging wind gusts (~100 km/h; locally 110-120 km/h), large hail (around 3-4 cm diameter) and flash floods in the aforementioned areas. A mesocyclonic tornado cannot be ruled out.

In the other parts of the country the main risk will be the excessive rainfall with flash floods!

But the main scenario is very unsettled because of the incosistent modell outputs!
